Tanya A. Hinds is an Associate of FT Legal and a certified Court-Annexed Mediator. Since joining the firm in September 2019, her enthusiasm and zeal has earned her a diverse portfolio which includes corporate and commercial law, corporate services, corporate secretarial practice, corporate governance, compliance and real estate transactions.

During the period 2007 to 2010, her love of research prompted her to attend the University of the West Indies Cave Hill Campus to pursue a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History, which she attained with Honours. A prerequisite to obtaining this degree was the completion of a thesis entitled “A History of Fustic Village: Social, Economic, Technological and Cultural Changes Throughout the Years”, for which she was awarded a Grade A.

Tanya then obtained her Bachelor of Laws Degree with Honours from the University of the West Indies in 2013 and her Legal Education Certificate from the Hugh Wooding Law School Trinidad and Tobago in 2016. While at Law School, she gained hands on experience in practical clinics where she had the opportunity to interact with clients and the responsibility for managing clients’ files. Her background and experience are varied and includes working with other firms in Barbados, as well as with the Office of the Attorney General of Barbados, where her practice focused on corporate, commercial and real estate work.

Tanya is an empathetic and committed professional whose drive to assist others, led her to become a trained Mediator. Her gentle communication skills, deep engagement with clients and results-oriented nature are skills which she has honed in that context which she integrates in all her matters.

Apart from her legal background, Tanya also has a passion for the arts, in particular, music. Tanya has achieved six (6) certificates from the Associated Board of the Royal School of Music in Piano in both Theory and Practical Examinations where she was awarded Distinctions and Merits.

Tanya is a firm believer that persistence, determination and commitment are the hallmarks of her success. These qualities have shaped her into becoming a multifaceted individual who strives to achieve excellence.

Additional Interests: singing, latin-ballroom dancing, and travelling to experience new places and cultures.
