Pauline Ascoli LL.L-LL.B is a Consultant to FT Legal, a boutique law firm based in Barbados. She is a member of the California, Quebec, and Ontario Bars and passed the Paris Bar exam later in her career. Her practice areas include Corporate and Commercial, Finance, Derivatives, FinTech, Insurance, Cybersecurity and Privacy Law. She is fluent in English and French.

Pauline obtained both her Civil law and Common law degrees from the University of Ottawa. An outstanding scholar, she acted as Intern to the Chief Justice to the Federal Claims Court (Washington D.C.), Law clerk to the late Mr. Justice J.K. Hugessen of Canada’s Federal Court of Appeal and Executive Assistant to the Federal Court of Canada Rules Committee (Ottawa, Canada) as well as Law clerk to the late Mr. Justice Charles D. Gonthier of the Supreme Court of Canada (Ottawa, Canada).

Pauline is an experienced attorney-at-law with a career spanning over three decades and three continents. She has headed Legal Departments for notable institutions such as Deutsche Bank AG and Deutsche Securities, Tokyo (acting), Crédit Agricole Bank and Crédit Agricole Indosuez Securities, Tokyo, Royal Bank of Scotland, Tokyo, the TMX Group’s Montreal Exchange and Canadian Derivative Clearing Corporation (Montreal) and Croisières AML. Pauline managed teams of derivatives and other lawyers for Crédit Agricole CIB, Paris. She has acted as Senior Lawyer to a Canadian Crown corporation and mortgage insurance provider and as attorney to a U.S. mortgage insurance provider (San Francisco).

Pauline has also worked for prominent law firms in France, Japan and Canada. In France, she was seconded by Kalexius to Société Générale and Lyxor Asset Management.

Pauline was chosen as keynote speaker at the University of Ottawa faculty of law’s 150th anniversary celebrations and for the Asia Pacific In-House Counsel Congress. She has taught bar examination students for the Law Society of Ontario and master’s students at Université de Paris XI. She has testified before the Canadian Senate and provided advice to various organizations and commissions.
