Heidi A. Maharaj is an international legal consultant with an extensive professional background spanning over 18 years in both private practice and in-house roles as a senior corporate/commercial attorney.  She obtained her J.D./LL.B. from Osgoode Hall Law School in Toronto, Canada in 2004 and her Legal Education Certificate from Hugh Wooding Law School in Trinidad and Tobago in 2007. She is licensed to practice law in Ontario, Canada (2005), Trinidad and Tobago (2007-non practicing), Barbados (2007-non practicing) and the British Virgin Islands (2007). Heidi’s professional experience extends globally across the United States, Canada and the Caribbean and her expertise covers a wide range of areas including corporate structuring, finance, commercial real estate, regulatory compliance, mergers and acquisitions as well as emerging sectors such as FinTech and blockchain.  She has also provided strategic legal counsel and guidance to global companies representing a diverse range of industries, including luxury retail, technology, mining, oil/gas, telecommunications, infrastructure, manufacturing, import and export and real estate. She has previously worked at leading law firms in Toronto and the British Virgin Islands and acted as in-house counsel to an international luxury goods retailer and manufacturer with operations in 22 countries worldwide including Antigua, Aruba, Barbados, Belize, Bermuda, BVI, Canada, Cayman Islands, Curacao, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Jamaica, St. Kitts, St. Lucia, St. Maarten, St. Vincent and the U.S. (including Puerto Rico, St. Thomas, Alaska, Florida, Pennsylvania and Texas).
